Last week I went to CP to buy some books, and of course to have some bites on burger in my favorite restaurant. When I rushed into the compartment I saw a young man sitting on a seat reserved for old people. And I saw a 70 plus old man standing nearby.
I noticed the young man looking at the old man frequently, but he did not offer the seat which the old man rightfully deserved.
First I thought the old man might get down at the next station. But he didn’t. And he was looking tired with a bag in his hand. I urged the young man to vacate the seat which was meant for old people. But my words went on deaf ears. Other passengers w ere taking it easy.
I requested the young man again. But he bluntly refused, almost a disrespect to me and the old man. The old man said to me: “Please don’t bother, I am quite comfortable.” But looking at his face I knew he was not.
A young lady was curiously watching this drama. She could control herself no more. She got up from her seat, came to the old man, held his arm, and helped him to take the seat which she had been occupying. The old man sat there, though a bit hesitantly. I said to the lady: “Thanks for your nice gesture”. The fellow passengers were enjoying everything.
The arrogant young man got up lazily and shamelessly when the trained reached his destination. As soon as he got down I called: “Hello Mr.”
He looked back. I shouted: “You have left something inside.”
He rushed in and nervously asked: “What’s that?”
I reply politely: ” You have left a bad impression in this compartment.”
The face of the young man turned pale. He jumped out of the train like a bullet, and disappeared in the crowd quickly.
The young lady laughed. There was a smile on the face of old man, as well as on the faces of other passengers.
